Out With The New and In With The Old

It seems as though the new packaging for Tropicana's Orange Juice has caused such and uproar that Tropicana, whose parent company is PepsiCo, had decided to return to it's old packaging. I personally loved the new packaging - right down to it's orange shaped cap - but I can agree with the naysayers in that it is a little difficult to distinguish the different varieties. It's a shame though. I see the newer carton as better designed and more sophisticated than the cluttered and dated carton of old.

The Arnell Group is the company responsible for the new, but withdrawn, branding for Tropicana. The Arnell Group was also responsible for the controversial rebranding of Pepsi late last year. If The Arnell Group has been doing anything right recently, it's definitely getting attention for their clients!

Throwback Pepsi and Mountain Dew

Pepsi has decided to release Throwback Pepsi and Throwback Mountain Dew made with real sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup. Though I'm more of a Coke person myself, I'm pretty excited! I believe it's well-timed with their new branding because it'll offer a juxtaposition on the store shelves between their old and new branding. Personally, I'd like the entire soda industry to switch back to sugar, but that's unlikely to happen soon. At least Snapple is making that effort!

Le Tourment Vert

I've never had absinthe before, but the design of this bottle is absolutely awesome. I love the subtle grinning devil that's found within the swirls of the bottle. The design is by Turner Duckworth, the company responsible for Coca-Cola's current branding and the Grammy Winning design for Metallica's "Death Magnetic" album.
